چکیده

In this paper, we undertake experiments to assess the feasibility of generating common secret keys between two bodyworn devices using the near-body channel. Deriving secret keys using the wireless channel is a practical and lightweight alternative to public-key key-agreement approaches. Our results indicate that key generation is good for dynamic scenarios where communicating devices are placed in non-lineof-sight positions on the body. Furthermore, we enhance existing key generation mechanisms by proposing a filtering method to reduce bit mismatch.

Mobility Independent Secret Key Generation for Wearable Health-care Devices

Security in Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) is of major concern as the miniature personal health-care devices need to protect the sensitive health information transmitted in wireless medium. It is essential for these devices to generate the shared secret key used for data encryption periodically. Recent studies have exploited wireless channel characteristics, e.g., received signal strength i...

Improving the Rao-Nam secret key cryptosystem using regular EDF-QC-LDPC codes

This paper proposes an efficient joint secret key encryption-channel coding cryptosystem, based on regular Extended Difference Family Quasi-Cyclic Low-Density Parity-Check codes. The key length of the proposed cryptosystem decreases up to 85 percent using a new efficient compression algorithm. Cryptanalytic methods show that the improved cryptosystem has a significant security advantage over Ra...

Poster: Exploiting Multiple-Antenna Diversity for Shared Secret Key Generation in Wireless Networks

Generating a secret key between two parties by extracting the shared randomness in the wireless fading channel is an emerging area of research. Previous works focus mainly on single-antenna systems. Multiple-antenna devices have the potential to provide more randomness for key generation than single-antenna ones. However, the performance of key generation using multiple-antenna devices in a rea...

Optimal SVD-based Precoding for Secret Key Extraction from Correlated OFDM Sub-Channels

Secret key extraction is a crucial issue in physical layer security and a less complex and, at the same time, a more robust scheme for the next generation of 5G and beyond. Unlike previous works on this topic, in which Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) sub-channels were considered to be independent, the effect of correlation between sub-channels on the secret key rate is address...

Extracting Secret Key from Received Signal Strength (rss) Measurements in Wireless Networks

Evaluate the effectiveness of secret key extraction, for private communication between two wireless devices, from the received signal strength (RSS) variations on the wireless channel between the two devices. In a variety of environments, RSS may vary due to lack of variations in the wireless channel; the extracted bits have very low entropy making these bits unsuitable for a secret key, In sig...
